summarise briefly Teachers’ shiatsu experience/training David Home, MRSS(T), LicAc MBAcC - Head Instructor of Shiatsu, has been teaching since 1987. He is qualified in Western Intuitive Massage, Kinesiology and Acupuncture. In 1997 he became a member of the assessment committee for the Shiatsu Society UK, an assessment coordinator and exam-ination writer. He is currently Chair of the Society and President of the European Shiatsu Federation. He has taught privately, for various other shiatsu schools, in Adult Education and abroad and has clinics in Ealing, West London and central London, as well as giving home visits. In addition he has studied many forms of movement for over twenty years from yoga to martial arts such as Seishin Kitaido, Tai Chi, Bohjitsu and Bokutoh and also SpiralDance

how does your school define shiatsu? Shiatsu is a traditional hands on therapy with its roots in Japanese and Chinese Medical systems. It is primarily a Japanese form of massage, using pressure on the energy pathways of Chinese acupuncture in order to rebalance the flow of vital energy or ’Ki’. This holistic principle of rebalancing ‘Ki’ helps restore health, vitality and wholeness physically, emotionally and psychologically, and creates a deeper sense of well-being with a more harmonious feel for life.
